What am I grateful for?
We invite you to make a post about what you are grateful for!
Here is John's:
I am most grateful for being alive on this beautiful planet, being born into a relatively supportive middle class family, given a healthy body and a good mind. I’m appreciative for the opportunities and the amazing experiences I’ve had. I’m happy that I have the awareness that I am a living miracle of nature, a human being who is conscious of the vastness and mind numbing vision of the cosmos of which I am a part. I’m happy and thankful that I love the world and the people in it and I feel loved in return. I’m grateful that I feel like I’m living in heaven on earth. I’m aware of the almost infinite beauty of earth’s creation, the diversity of life, both animals and plants, the oceans the mountains...it’s all so amazing and wonderful to me. I’m grateful for who I am and what I’ve become...which may not be much, but I know who I am and I like that person and that is something to be happy about and although I’m not rich or famous in the eyes of the world, I’m still able, from time to time, to feel like the luckiest and happiest person on earth and I attribute a lot of how I feel to simply being “aware” while focusing on my enumerable and manifold blessings. To whom am I most thankful and grateful? My greatest and deepest heartfelt thanks goes out to my creator, the God of the Universe. I am talking about the unimaginable force, power and intelligence that is behind all creation. The intelligence that created math and the human brain. The force that is life itself and exists in a seed that, overcoming all odds, seeks the light and creates the flower that breaks through the crack in the sidewalk. It’s the force and intelligence behind all natural laws of physics and chemistry. It’s the force behind evolution that is always striving to be better, grander, more alive and expressive. This force is the prime mover, the creator of the “Big Bang”. It’s the force that contradicts the 2nd law of thermodynamics by creating a life force that is always moving toward achieving a better result and becomes more organized, not less. It’s the force and power that heals my broken bone with no effort on my part. It is the force that gives me consciousness and life. It is the source of the creativity of man. I have taped into this force for my over all good. I love and embrace this force. I call this force “my heavenly father” because emotionally and pragmatically this endearing term makes me feel comforted and secure and as a frail human being, that works for me.Being connected to my all powerful “heavenly father”, gives my thankful heart an outlet of expression. When I’m watching a beautiful sunset, perhaps while listening to my favorite music, and when my eyes and heart are so full of the beauty of the earth and I become aware of my good fortune of just being alive to see what my eyes are seeing, I sometimes become overwhelmed by it all. I am physically and emotionally feeling a fullness and richness in my chest as I experience true gratitude. My natural inclination is to whisper a sincere prayer of thankfulness to my heavenly father and when I do, this experience of love, joy and fullness is enhanced and multiplied. I feel like I’m doing what is only natural for a human being to do under these circumstances. I just have to release the tension created by the build up of happiness and joy in my heart which is now full and overflowing with “cosmic” gratitude and that release for me is found in thanking God, my creator, my heavenly father who created me for just such moments of bliss.
